How to remember your loved ones on your wedding day.

Right now my uncle is dying. In fact, the day this goes live Ill probably be at his funeral. Death is a part of life, but it doesn’t make it any easier. My uncle is only 61 and although he’s lived a tremendous 16 months longer than we ever expected, they are tough words to hear; that he wont make it through the day.Weddings are of course hugely joyous occasion, celebrations of love, life, family and happiness. Some of us are lucky enough to have all our family & friends with us on the day and others are not.

When we married we were truly blessed to have so many of the very important people there with us, unfortunately not all, particularly my grandfather who had been so excited for us, but sadly passed the November before we said ‘I Do’. It was important to us to remember all those who had passed away, or indeed who lived to great a distance to be with us on that special day and so we involved them;

Before our wedding ceremony started, two of my wonderful cousins stood up, and as one lit a candle to represent all those who couldn’t be with us, the other read a short poem I wrote telling everyone that this candle was to represent those who had passed and who we wished would be with us today and those who send their love and are celebrating at home.
