Wedding Venues Yorkshire – What Makes Them So Popular?

Guest Post by Sunniva I. Skoglund
Traditionally, couples planning their wedding day would look for local venues.  However, in recent years there has been a move away from this kind of approach, with couples starting to look further afield for their event venue.  Wedding venues Yorkshire are becoming increasingly popular and are enjoying a real upsurge in the number of bookings they are taking.
So what is it that makes them so attractive to soon to be married couples?
Cost
Figures suggest that the average {UK} wedding costs in the region of £20,000, with some couples spending much more.  The wedding reception accounts for the largest chunk of this; with the venue, food and drinks averaging upwards of £4,000.  Due to the current financial climate many are looking to make savings on their wedding wherever they can and the venue is the first place to start.  As the north of England is cheaper than their local area, southerners are now looking at venues that they wouldn’t previously have considered.
Ease of access
Cost alone isn’t the only factor that is making wedding venues in Yorkshire such a popular choice right now.  Indeed, there are many other areas in northern England that offer just as competitively priced wedding venues.  However, not many are as well located or easily accessed as Yorkshire is.  Modern day trends mean that many people relocate during their lives, therefore your family and friends can be spread all over the UK and perhaps even further afield.  As Yorkshire is quite central in terms of the UK landmass, it makes a good place for guests to travel to no matter where they live.  The West Yorkshire region is perhaps the best choice, with excellent road, rail and air travel links in place.
Surroundings
The third reason that wedding venues Yorkshire are all the rage at the moment is the surroundings in which many of them are set.  The countryside of Yorkshire is some of the most beautiful in the UK and there is good reason for the locals referring to the county as God’s Own Country.  There are vast stretches of unspoiled countryside, best showcased by the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales national parks.  The surrounding areas of many Yorkshire wedding venues provide an ideal backdrop for the perfect wedding day and introduce an aura of tranquillity in the midst of a hectic day.  The scenery can also be of great use when it comes to taking those personal wedding shots and the photographer can whisk you away for half an hour to get photos that you can treasure for the rest of your life.
